Cook a Meal Chopped Style – There’s nothing like a little competition to spice things up in your love life. Using the ingredients you already have in your pantry and refrigerator, prepare a meal to knock your partner’s socks off. If you have kids or other people living with you, they can judge the winner. Select a prize for the winning dish and be creative!
Meditate Together – Meditation does not have to be practiced in solitude. In fact, meditating with your partner can give you the accountability you need to stick with it. For an added bonus, once you’re done with your meditation for the day, take some time to reflect with one another about what is on your mind. Taking this precious time when your mind and spirit are at peace to communicate with one another can be very powerful and make your connection even stronger.
Try a New Food Item or Drink - Did you know that trying something new can naturally bond you closer with your partner? Even if you or your partner are not big on experimenting with new drinks, make the commitment to try something new. Koe kombucha drinks were perfect for my latest movie date night with my husband. He does not love trying new things but he was pleasantly surprised by the mango-flavored Koe drink he tried. I am a big fan of kombucha, but had never tried a blueberry-ginger flavor. It was sweet, spicy and delicious. It was a great way to change things up!
Zoom Double Date – Zoom parties have grown in popularity with friends and family, but why leave our partners out of the equation? Contact one of your favorite couples and ask them to join in on a Zoom double date. You can select a topic to discuss, have a fancy meal together, or simply catch up to check in on one another. One of the best things you can do for your romantic partnership is to surround yourself with other couples that you admire. This should not stop just because you are sheltering in place. So connect with a few of your couple friends and make your next double date a virtual meetup!
Disco Night - With all the DJ’s spinning online parties and musical artists having song battles, now is a great time to have a dance party at home. Research any upcoming online parties or concerts artists are broadcasting along with which platform they will stream the event. Take the time to ensure that you have access, log in early if you know the event will be very popular (to ensure that you gain entrance) and dance the night away.
Movie Theme Night With Attire - Select a movie you both enjoy and up the ante by playing dress up with your partner. Put together your best costume with items you already have in your closet and dress as one of the characters in the film. You can even take it a step further by role playing the characters you’ve selected. Have some fund, act out a few scenes and see where the night takes you.
Trade Workout Routines - Chances are you and your partner have completely different workout styles. Consider leading your partner in a workout of your choice and then switch it up by having your partner lead your sweat session the next time. While practicing a different workout style can feel intimidating, encourage each other to step outside of your comfort zones while giving your body the healthy movement it needs.
